In her memoire about commanding the 6888th Battalion, Lt. Col. Charity Adams Earley described the officers quarters as the Hôtel Etats-Unis. I thought I had found it. It turns out that the Hôtel Etats-Unis Opéra opened in 1947, so it couldn't have been the officers' quarters.

Proud to introduce legislation to name the post office in Collinwood in honor of Tech Sergeant Alma Gladys Minter, a Clevelander who served in the historic Six Triple Eight Postal Battalion in WWII.

The Six Triple Eight was the first and only all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit to serve overseas during the war. Minter and the Six Triple Eight cleared a backlog of over 17 million pieces of mail - connecting the home front and the front lines and boosting morale.

But now their story is known. Naming the post office in honor of Tech Sergeant Minter is a way to ensure her legacy, and the legacy of Six Triple Eight, lives on in the hearts of the community she called home. shontelbrown.house.gov/media/press-re…
