Things I’ve found difficult working in COTE. Approaching difficult conversations with patients when their family members express concerns about home. It never gets easier. You are an advocate for your patient but also want to address any safety concerns raised.

The best way I have found is to not beat around the bush, but also make your patient feel comforted and know that you only wish the best for them. As a therapist you have a duty of care to offer the support you can, but likewise, you must accept if they decline and have capacity
