Last yr we used the LIEP grant to start a student podcast Red Willow PS - EQAO contextual data showed our girls lacked confidence in many areas. Our very own Ms. Coughlan continues to work with them & is helping so many find their voice through podcasting. Elevate student voice.

Our whole Red Willow PS staff joined us after school as our amazing social committee planned a beautiful farewell to our VP Jade Robinson-Leduc, (she/they) lots of tears, cake, and fun! Celebrating RW style: food, laughter, and community.

Thank you to our entire Red Willow PS community for their generosity. We did not have enough room in the foyer for all donations & Knights Table along with our Grade 5 helpers decided another trip will be needed tomorrow! Appreciate it so much!

TY junior teachers V. Karpiak Mrs. Samra who for the second year Red Willow PS continue empowering students. When the data showed us Black girls felt they weren’t good at science, our Ts stepped up and started the Black STEAM Queens. An affinity space for girls who love science!

Proud to see Red Willow PS teachers who have been using UFLI for almost three years still signing up to have our amazing Literacy coach Michelle Kall model a lesson. And other teachers joining to observe as well! Learning should never stop.

Inspired by our meeting with Robert Palazzo 2 yrs ago - our extraordinary G3 Ts began a rotation cycle. Following their Core Phonics Surveys, they divided all Gr3 students in groups based on need. Every P1 - Ss rotate to be with a T who explicitly teaches each group what they need.

Great SIEP visit with SOE Kervin White Kindergarten students were celebrating 100 Days Red Willow PS and presented him with a card too! Deep conversation as members of our SIEP committee presented what we do and how we monitor. Do the work but measure impact. Always.

Ts *actually* reading to students helps build their schema, comprehension, attention span, critical thinking skills, and enhances vocabulary. A YouTube video without continuous teacher probing and engagement is not a read aloud. TY Maria Walther Your books are extraordinary!

As a Montrealer, I grew up with Le Carnaval de Québec - we lived a tiny piece of it Red Willow PS fun filled day with indoor & outdoor activities. TY to Bradi Ms. B for all the behind the scenes work over the last week & all staff who prepared 575 cups of hot chocolate!

After a year of diligently facilitating the Empower reading program on a daily basis, often twice a day - our Red Willow PS ESL teacher Sonia Chadha threw a pizza & ice cream party for all our successful readers! These kiddos are on their way! This is just the beginning.
