The Assembly has backed the SDLP’s proposal for a Public Land Agency, a vital step towards tackling the housing crisis. This is about action for families on waiting lists, renters struggling to get by and people trying to buy their first home. The Executive must now deliver.

We were at the DPAC rally in Belfast today, standing against the UK Government’s planned welfare cuts. Both the Executive and Westminster are presiding over people getting poorer and sicker. The SDLP will fight these cuts in Westminster and at Stormont.

In some areas, second homes are driving up prices while housing sits empty most of the year. Our SDLP plan Building Firm Foundations calls for: • A register of holiday homes • Powers to cap them in hotspot areas • Higher rates on second homes Communities must come first.

Northern Ireland’s wastewater network is broken and it’s holding us all back. New homes can't be built and our environment is suffering. Today, the SDLP is demanding an urgent review of NI Water’s funding and governance. It’s time for action.

Despite Sinn Féin’s repeated promises not to raise tuition fees, the Economy Minister refused to rule out an increase in the Assembly today. In the South, they call for free tuition - in the North, they consider hiking fees. The SDLP will hold them to their word.
