Kilbeggan Racecourse manager Paddy Dunican will be laid to rest in his hometown today.

Paddy had been at the helm at the popular Westmeath venue for over 35 years and won the National Hunt Racecourse Manager of the Year award on three separate occasions.

May he rest in peace ❤️

Yesterday at Galway City Council monthly meeting I proposed a vote of sympathy for my friend, Paddy Dunican on his untimely passing last weekend.

Paddy’s contribution to the horse racing industry was notable and his deep commitment to Kilbeggan was unwavering. Rest in Peace.

Paddy, you have left a hole in the hearts of all who had the privilege of calling you a friend.

Unfortunately, we learned this weekend of the sudden passing of Kilbeggan Racecourse Manager, Paddy Dunican. Paddy was a long time friend of Galway and a friend to many of the Directors and staff at Galway. Our deepest sympathies go to Paddy’s family at this time. RIP

I will always cherish the memories we shared.

His kindness, support and loyalty knew no bounds, and his compassion knew no limits.

He is a huge loss to all of us who called him a friend.
