Ahead of the United Nations Bonn Climate Conference next week, ACFID has joined CANA Pacific Islands Climate Action Network (PICAN) and over 30 civil society orgs to call on the Australian Government to use its influence to advocate for #LossAndDamage finance to be included in the new 🌎 climate finance goal.

From Dr Sindra Sharma, the Pacific Islands are facing the gravity of the climate crisis today, severe ecosystem loss and threat to life. This is a great moral wrong. The $100 billion goal is in no way adequate enough to meet the needs of climate finance. #PayUp #ClimateFinanceNow

Dr. Dr Sindra Sharma of Fiji 🇫🇯 for Pacific Islands Climate Action Network (PICAN) on why the AOSIS and LDC Chair need the New Collective Quantified Goal on #Climate Finance (#NCQG) to deliver trillions for #Adaptation and #LossAndDamage and to keep the 1.5°C target of the #ParisAgreement alive.

24/36. Shiva Gouden of Greenpeace Australia Pacific: “There is a saying in our region: ‘it takes a village to raise a child, if the village breaks. So does the child’...Developed countries and major polluters such as the #FossilFuel industry have taken the right to security from our people.”

It is hard watching wealthy nations fall late with past-due #climatefinance while quickly approving new💲 for war or #fossilfuel subsidies. "It seems like money is always there when it's a more 'real' national priority for the country," Michai Robertson reuters.com/business/envir…

Great piece by Vanuatu Minister Ralph Regenvanu reminding #G7 countries of their responsibility to: 👉End fossil fuel expansion at home 👉Stop funding fossil fuel projects abroad 👉Provide adequate finance for a just and equitable energy transition climatechangenews.com/2024/06/13/g7-…

1/15.📜NEW SUBMISSION: From the @lossanddamage and Pacific Islands Climate Action Network (PICAN) to inform the 11th Technical Expert Dialogue (#TED11) of the New Collective Quantified Goal on #ClimateFinance (#NCQG) taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan🇦🇿, 10-13th September. 🔗Read it here: lossanddamagecollaboration.org/publication/su…

A fossil fuel phase out must be fast, fair, funded, feminist and forever! Every day we delay raises the costs of action. The Global South requires climate finance that empowers us all—because finance is the realisation of ambition. Listen to Dylan Kava of PICAN ⬇️⬇️
