IMT simulations today, starting the morning off with palliative care simulations. QE Gateshead Medical Education


Today sim is supporting the Critical skills for Critical care course, looking at management of patients on ventilators, airway difficulties and a patient with blocked tracheostomy. QE Gateshead Medical Education NEsimulation



Yesterday we delivered Sims for year 3 student Nurses and Student Midwifes, scenarios included managing pain, major bleeding and sepsis. Followed by a crash trolley game. Well done Susan and the team for organising, and well done to the students. QE Gateshead Medical Education NEsimulation





Todays A+E insitu sim was a 35 year old male Thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura, with petaechial purpuric rash to lower legs. The patient appeared confused and showing signs of deterioration. On Friday we delivered simulations for our Critical Care Nursing team, scenarios included, management of a blocked tracheostomy, migrated ET tube, epidural block, post op emergency and an community acquired pneumonia. Todays A+E in-situ simulation was a child presenting with lethargy, multiple bruises on different stages of healing. Parent reports the child had a "fall" 2 days ago. Todays a+e in-situ sim was a 8 year old trauma, child on bicycle hit by car, injuries to head injury, left side rib fracture and left femur fracture. Child was fetch to our a+e due to divert, the team had stabilise the patient ready for appropriate transfer. QE Gateshead Medical Education



Todays in-situ sim was in Critical Care, the patient was a 69 Yr old, admitted with hypotension. Flucloxacilin prescribed to treat cellulitis, suffers allergic reaction resulting in anaphylaxis. Well done to the Critical care team involved. QE Gateshead Medical Education #simtech

Todays insitu Sim was delivered in radiology. 73 year old patient in for a bilateral iliac arterial angioplasty. The team were able to identify when the blood pressure started dropping. Well done to all that were involved. QE Gateshead Medical Education NEsimulation #simtech
