These messages have been playing non-stop during the night towards the #Matamoros encampment. This time, the audio was played in Mandarin. People can't sleep or have any rest. Another violent tool designed to torture asylum seekers on the border. #AsylumSeekers #Violence

The State of Texas now shines a huge light directly into the Matamoros encampment every night AND they play the recordings. No one is sleeping inside of the Matamoros encampment.

I finally have this wonderful book from @aledlcp in my hands. It arrived yesterday, and I started reading it immediately! Such a beautiful writing and a pressing topic. It's definitely a must-read! I will definitely add it to my syllabi!

We applaud @DHSGov tonight for re-designating Temporary Protected Status for Venezuela. This vital decision will allow Venezuelan migrants here as of 7/31/2023 to apply for work permits and obtain some stability as they go through the asylum process.

If you were paroled into the U.S. through the processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans, then you can apply for a work permit. You can begin the application process by creating a USCIS online account and filing Form-I-765 online. uscis.gov/i-765

The high risk of kidnapping and rape in two Mexican border cities is a factor pushing migrants to cross illegally, advocates tell Reuters. Cartels there kidnap migrants for ransom, particularly those without smugglers' protection, security analysts say reut.rs/3PDohe5

HB4 would allow TX peace officers to use separation as state-sanctioned violence to separate undocumented people from their families and drop them at a port of entry--going further than the Trump Admin did in 2018 by removing people from the country without due process!#TXLege

A large group of migrants, including children, crossed into US after Mexican immigration used bulldozers and force to move them from encampment by the river that’s been established for over a year. They’ve been stuck in river for about 12 hours and remain without food or water.
