The Network of Sikh Orgs's letter to Angela Rayner mentions Tim Dieppe's briefing for The Free Speech Union, emphasising how adopting the APPG definition of Islamophobia would have "serious implications on free speech, not least the ability to discuss historical truths."

Great to see the Network of Sikh Organisations calling on the government not to incorporate the contested definition of Islamophobia into law. Completely agree. Doing so would create division and fundamentally undermine free expression.

It is commendable that the Network of Sikh Organisations has steadfastly resisted the acceptance of Islamophobia. The contentious definition of "Islamophobia" will only serve to exacerbate already existing polarisation and stifle freedom of speech.

Why the APPG definition of Islamaphobia is wrong and should be rejected - it's not about addressing bigotry, but controlling narratives.

They are right. The definition of Islamophobia being proposed would not only ban cogent criticism of Islam, it would ban basic recounting and retelling of history, including not only Islamic history, but the history of other faiths historically affected by Islam.
