We had a good day yesterday at our 'Forward to 50' event. Great presentations, sharing of ideas, lively conversations between members and guests - and we had cake! Thanks to everyone who gave talks, those who helped at the event and those who came along.

I did a bit of #OnePlaceWednesday research and thanks to @InternetArchive I found out how the Stoke upon Tern parish registers became the Stoke IN Tern registers—someone stole the safe in which they were being kept, and the safe ended up in the river. 😱

We're back! For 2025 we will henceforth be open one day a week (Thursdays 10am-5pm), while we undertake a huge project! Our Records Management needs moving so we're about to shift some boxes and catalogue council things - wish us luck! It'll only be a year and we're still around.

Would you believe it? We have a little treat for you all - you can now access the 1921 census for free, here at Shropshire Archives, and at local libraries. Some good news for family researches to kick off the new year!
