Today we were honored to take part in the State of Healthcare Luncheon, presented by the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce. Our Chief of Staff of Orthopedics, Dr. Janay McKie, participated on a panel of local healthcare leaders who addressed the current state of healthcare.

This morning we had a tasty Back to School Breakfast for our hospital staff, complete with breakfast tacos and iced coffee. It was a great way to start the new school year!

Our Patient Ambassador, Grey, spoke at a recent meeting of the Needville Lions Club. He talked about the fun time he had at the Texas Burn Survivor Society summer camp at the Texas Lion's Camp in Kerrville, and his experience as a patient at Shriners Children's Texas.

Former Shriners Children’s Texas patient Kaitlyn Eaton will soon be in Paris for her second Paralympics. Eaton won a bronze medal with the United States women’s wheelchair basketball team in Tokyo in 2021, and now she’s shooting for gold in Paris. Good luck, Kaitlyn!

We were honored to welcome the National Association of Benefits & Insurance Professionals to the hospital today, where they made a generous contribution from their annual charitable golf tournament. They have been steadfast supporters of our mission, raising a cumulative $50,000.

As Paralympian Tatyana McFadden’s mom said, “If Shriners Children's was a country, it would be incredibly well-represented at the Paralympics!” We are thrilled to be cheering on 16 patient alumni competing in nine sports! The Paralympics start on August 28 on NBC and Peacock!

Our AMAZING patient, TJ, is going home! So our staff held a little going-away party with cookies and some cool gifts. We're so happy for you, TJ!

This morning we hosted a large group from the Arabia Shriners, who were here to tour the hospital. We had a great time showing them all the AMAZING things going on at Shriners Children's Texas!

Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome Jim & Susan Clawson, founders of The Jim and Susan Clawson Endowed Chair for the Chief of Staff – Burns, along with their team from Third Coast. We’re grateful for the continued support from the Clawsons and Third Coast.
