And I'm back! It's so nice to be on this side of the desk. Easing back in after shielding/sick/working from home. Did a few fracture clinics over half-term. Loving my e-cycle commute. Great team East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Shielding Doctors Network
Trisha Greenhalgh we’ve been asking for this since last year. ITU staff have clearly been protected by the FFP3 masks, despite caring for the sickest of COVID patients, as was demonstrated in a study of healthcare professional mortality and morbidity from COVID last year.
Trisha Greenhalgh The BMJ Can someone/ANYONE(!) please organise antibody testing for people admitted to hospital due to COVID infection despite double vaccination? We need to know whether these are the peeps who have failed to develop a decent IgG anti-spike antibody response. In the interests of science!
Thank you to our host Lord Mendelsohn and speakers Helen Rowntree, Dr Lennard Lee- FRCP, DPhil, BmBCh, 💙alison birtle, Hal Cohen and Nick for your insights in our webinar yesterday on cancer and immunocompromised people, and to attendees for your informative and moving contributions.
There is already clear NHS Employers / NHSE England guidance regarding the need for risk assessment for CEV staff. england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/pu… nhsemployers.org/articles/risk-… The gap between national guidance and frontline implementation now clearly needs addressing. And access to OH.
Dr Sarah Todd #TeamGP #StaySafeBeKind Completely agree that all with specific Covid risk have the appropriate risk assessment and support they need. Pleased the article included mention of Lord Mendelsohn writing on behalf of APPG on vulnerable groups to demand national guidance for this group of clinicians
Yes, many thanks to the APPG on Vulnerable Groups to Pandemics for their support and helping raise the profile of the The Vulnerable and Shielding Network Shielding Doctors Network Clinically Vulnerable Families 💙💜💗 in Parliament. (Obviously this article highlights the shortcomings of risk assessments in the NHS. I can't imagine any better in other employment sectors)
This is true. And it's not just about the clinically vulnerable. It's for all our safety. We would not tolerate dirty drinking water in our workplace. Now we have the evidence, we should not be tolerating stale air either. Health and Safety Executive Professor Andrew Curran CBE
And here is our poster 👍 Quick Summary: - remote working can be hard - being a trainee with health stuff can be hard - connecting people has benefits both in terms of achievement and support - let’s do it more often #remotetrainees AMEE Online
When you try & deliver something complicated at pace mistakes can happen. That’s why partnerships between NHS & patient organisations are vital, they allow fast course correction which is what’s happened here through our work w/ NHS England Transformation on covid treatment #StrongerTogether
Six weeks ago, we highlighted the appalling racial disparity in 3rd dose roll-out. Since then, NHS England has failed to publish data on what's happened since or any plans to address it. Immunocompromised people from ethnic minorities deserve better! bloodcancer.org.uk/news/alarming-…
