I am a #FFTFellow. ًFund for Teachers has awarded my team $10K to explore the African American experience across 5 southern states, helping teach accurate historical narratives & connect students' historical knowledge to current events, empowering them to imagine & enact change.

We visited the National Law Enforcement Museum and sat in a workshop about forensic science, met with MPD officers, and participated in a use-of-force situation. Shout out to Seniors Malachi Thomas and Jeremiah Jones for volunteering in the simulation.

There was so much history and energy in this building. We are thankful to educate our students using people in our community who are living legends and examples of civic engagement and love for the community. I can't wait to go back.

I'm excited for this week's activities! I've worked hard for the past few months, and this week will showcase my efforts. Today's networking luncheon was a huge success in many ways. Tomorrow, we get to see real cases and meet the judge afterward—all in honor of Law Day, May 1.

We took a group of seniors and juniors to the DC Court of Appeals to observe a case about parking at Echo Stage. We met Chief Justice Blackburne-Rigsby, who has long supported our academy. Judge Howard also guided us on a courthouse tour. We're grateful for our partners-in-law!

We screened Juror #2, a legal drama. We were joined by a criminal defense attorney and a legal professor from Georgetown Law School for a discussion afterward, complete with a movie theater experience of popcorn, candy, & nachos. Day 3 of Justice in Action Week is a wrap!

We successfully hosted our first career day for Justice In Action Week, coinciding with Law Day on May 1st. We invited representatives from the DEA, FBI, US Marshals, MPD, DC Dept. of Forensic Science, and a court stenographer to discuss law-related careers for our students.

We appreciate our partnership with the Pillsbury law firm, which hosted our students for networking with legal professionals, a campus tour, and a Chipotle lunch. Many associates look forward to further collaboration with our students. We educate, validate, and empower them.

"I need time to think about it" is a complete sentence. Not everything requires an immediate response. Your thoughtfulness isn't indecision—it's wisdom.

Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, I can’t fake it anymore. I need a shift. Not next week. Not someday. TODAY. Everything that’s been out of order—align it. My emotions, my mindset, my money, my energy, my faith—bring it all back into divine alignment. I am tired of confusion. Tired

Here are some pictures of our academy seniors presenting their Declaration Day projects. It’s a bittersweet moment, as many have been with us since 10th grade. We’re proud of their progress and excited to hear about their future plans.
