International law is not self-enforcing. Had most of these states sending lawyers to the ICJ imposed sanctions on and boycotted Israel (as per the July 2024 CIJ_ICJ opinion) perhaps we would have been in a different situation.

The International Court of Justice is hearing new details about how the Israeli government, pursuing its war-crime strategy, is trying to bomb and starve Palestinian civilians in Gaza to flee. news.un.org/en/story/2025/…

“…the countries and civil society groups involved in establishing the protective force should disregard the veto, form the mission autonomously and defy the genocidal international order in which we live.”

Over 4,000 children have been diagnosed with acute malnutrition. Burn victims are undergoing surgery without necessary pain medicines.

The U.S. is openly conditioning humanitarian aid on Hamas agreeing to its preferred ceasefire terms. This is a war crime. You cannot starve civilians to pressure an enemy. The fact that this ghoul was appointed by Biden shows the moral rot at the heart of U.S. foreign policy.

"Me and just a handful of nurses ... decided we were going to stay with them, because if the hospital was going to get bombed we decided we were going to die with our patients, taking care of them, not running away from them. And then the hospital did get hit."

Emergency: I received a distressed call from the people of the Freedom Flotilla that is carrying essential food and medicine to the starving Gaza population. I call on concerned state authorities, including maritime authorities, to support the ship and its crew as needed. I

Waging wars where full destruction is the goal. Dismembering children with no respite. Imposing sanctions on an int'l court. Unflagging a humanitarian ship moments before it gets hit by a drone. Not responding to SOS. This isn't a dystopic future. It is ALREADY the new normal.

Mohsen Mahdawi in the NYT: "If we cannot speak up against the killing of children and what human rights experts have called a genocide in Gaza, what can we speak out against?"

Hind Rajab would have turned 7 today. One of the thousands of lights that a world that has accepted dehumanization and extreme violence against children has lost.

Editorials like this should have been published many months ago. But the crimes are perpetrated as we speak so this is a welcome addition to the growing consensus.

Israel's actions in Gaza go "beyond constituting grave international crimes." They follow "alarming, documented patterns of genocidal conduct," warn UN experts. The world must "transcend rhetoric and take enforceable action to immediately end the carnage." ohchr.org/en/press-relea…
