The improvements I made to my teaching the past few years included eliminating worksheets, textbooks and "I do, we do, you do" which were replaced with #edtech, inquiry tasks and bigger, richer collaborative problem solving #iteachmath

#ConvinceMeThat is a great #mathroutine for getting students brains working. Not only does it have great routine strategies for math, but it gets students to use what they know across all subject areas! #eled330 #dsumath

A great point that we discussed in ELED 330 today with Kevin Smith! As a teacher it is sometimes hard to not listen for the correct answer. Creating a classroom full of math talk sounds a lot like β€œthis is why I did this…” or β€œ I did this because” #dsumath

This is such a fun geometry activity that you could do for Spring that also has students showing what they know about angles, vertices, and shapes!

I love this model of a great math class. It includes so much thinking and wondering, engagement, and collaboration. These are keys in creating a good environment in your math classroom! #dsumath Kevin Smith

I love the variety of blocks being used as manipulatives in this lesson. Blocks and cubes are a great tools for helping students gain conceptual understanding of numbers and place value! #dsumath Kevin Smith

The pandemic affected different age groups differently, but I am noticing something with this new group who was very young (5/6y) during lockdown. It's not that they don't know how to do things. I think they're not used to being expected to do things on their own.
