Wonder why it is so often overlooked?

In creating this new educative infographic, I drew on a breadth of #OccupationalTherapy sources. The pyramid hierarchy concept isn't new, but a clear presentation and explanation makes this more accessible for fellow clinicians working on #Cognition.

Clinical tip on #delirium: it fluctuates - e.g. lucid one hour, confused or sleepy the next. This cruel "rollercoaster" exhausts families & fools healthcare professionals. Let's not be misled by moments of clarity. Review the notes for changes over the last 24-48 hours.

PICS has been impacting the lives of ICU survivors for decades, long before the term was coined to describe the collective residual health issues. My ICU event was in 2009 and there is no area of my life that has not been touched by #PICS. PICS changed my life beyond recognition.

A feeling of loneliness or isolation is commonly reported in people experiencing #delirium. Don't leave them feeling like this. Speak kindly, explain what is happening, involve family.

“Nobody used the word delirium. I thought I’d lost my mind.” — Delirium survivor ➡️ Always provide clear information, including telling the patient they have delirium, during the episode. Then explain & de-brief afterwards.
