Our airport operations powered by MACL remains unaffected in the current power outage. We are working with our teams to rectify the issues related to the Greater Malé area power grid.

We are pleased to inform the public that power was fully restored at Velana International Airport at 2:05 PM today. Earlier, a power outage in the Greater Malé area also affected the airport, as the main power grid serves as a backup to MACL’s own power generation system.

We are currently holding a meeting with Velana Airport stakeholders to discuss the ORAT process for the opening of the New Passenger Terminal.

Ongoing meeting with seaplane operators to discuss the ORAT process for the new Velana Airport passenger terminal, aimed at supporting a phased airline transition and minimizing operational risks.

Today, we are meeting with Maldives Association of Tourism Industry as part of ongoing stakeholder engagements for the opening of the new Passenger Terminal at VIA. The discussions focused on the strategy for operationalization, with emphasis on enhancing the passenger experience.

We are concluding today’s stakeholder discussions with Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation and MATATO - PATA Maldives Chapter on the operationalisation of the new Passenger Terminal at Velana Airport. Insights shared will contribute to shaping services that support a seamless passenger experience.
