One could write a great dissertation on early Islamic law with a single chapter dedicated to each of these controversial regional positions. I'm surprised there hasn't yet been some clever clogs out there who's done it.

There’s a new edition of Tabari’s History, published in 20 volumes and edited by Bashar Awaf Maruf. I’m told the new edition has attended to the number of mistakes in the Leiden edition (from 1879) by the Leiden editor Michael Jan de Goeje.
