So excited to be at #PyConUS2022 this year! Come say hi at the end of row 700, grab some stickers, and learn how we can keep #opensource scientific computing sustainable 💙❤️

Fortran-lang was chosen to participate in the Google Summer of Code 2022 program. Five contributors will work on exciting projects from LFortran and fpm to the Fortran website and an online playground. Read more about them here: summerofcode.withgoogle.com/programs/2022/… Thank you, Google Open Source!

LFortran now works in WebAssembly. Here is a very alpha-version demo that runs in your browser and it is *fast*: dev.lfortran.org It still has many bugs, which you can report here if they are not already reported: github.com/lfortran/lcomp… github.com/lfortran/lfort…

If you like LFortran, but would prefer Python, check out LPython. Same internals, same speed, different frontend language:

Big progress for LFortran. This is our third code to fully compile, lots of arrays and numerics, loading data from a file, as well as string manipulation (GPT-2 tokenizer). You can follow our progress towards compiling 10 codes at lfortran.org.

Big milestone! We are still alpha (expected to break), but quickly becoming usable. Great work by our team (see authors on the blog post), thank you all!

This is a big milestone for us. We are hoping that SciPy could start using it now. Just a year ago we could not compile a single 3rd party code fully, and now we can compile several third party codes (both legacy and modern Fortran) and everything works. Huge progress.

Big milestone, we can now compile and correctly run all numerical parts of fortran-lang stdlib: lfortran.org/blog/2024/04/l…
