Thank you to everyone who has filled out the Rust Trademark Policy feedback form so far. The Rust Foundation team is monitoring all responses and will provide an update on next steps on Monday, April 17 — 1 day after the form closes.

I also have serious concerns with this first draft of the proposal, but please know that the Rust project will only accept something that we, and the community, can feel proud of and stand behind. Like an RFC, there will be multiple revisions before it could possibly be accepted.

We asked the Rust Foundation to update the old Rust trademark policy. They proposed a first draft and are asking us all to submit our feedback. Rest assured that the Rust project will only accept something that we can stand behind and addresses the concerns that have been raised.

Leah here. After chatting with Björkus 'No time_t to Die' Dorkus and others, I've learned definitively who was responsible for incorrectly representing to us that "Leadership" did not want them to give a keynote. I can't speak to their motivations and haven't yet been directly in touch with them.

Hey folks, I've been waiting until I can gather my thoughts more before posting about this, but I don't want anybody to think I'm hiding it so: I'm no longer with the Rust Foundation. I'm still feeling far too depressed to say more, I'll elaborate in the coming days.
