Day 1. Kintyre Trip with Pop. CLT->LHR->GLA. Drove to Campbeltown. Oysters and mussels Loch Fyne Oysters. Golf in the gloaming at Dunaverty.
Day 2: Kintyre with Pop. Went birding in the morning on the coast at Tangy. Played in the Springbank Open in 40 mph winds at The Machrihanish Golf Club. Shot a million. Never stopped smiling. A+ golf experience. Dinner at Forty-Two in Campbeltown. Exceptional food.
Day 3. Kintyre with Pop. Awoke 5am to catch the early Islay Ferry. Breakfast & golf at The Machrie. Staff, golf, weather & food were all an A+. After the round we took a hike to the Oa Nature Preserve near Lower Killeyan. Cliffs and views were spectacular. Late ferry home.
Day 4. Kintyre with Pop. Played the lovely David McLay-Kidd course Machrihanish Dunes. The green contours are whimsical and FUN. Terrain is ideal for links golf. Made 4 birdies with hickories in the sunshine in Scotland with my dad. Does it get better than that?
Day 6. Kintyre with Pop. We visited the beautiful Ceardach Gardens in the morning. I highly recommend going in May when the azaleas & rhododendrons are blooming. The Machrihanish Golf Club in the afternoon in perfect conditions. I scored 19 stroke better than Sunday. Birding in the gloaming.
Day 7. Kintyre with Pop. We took the Claonaig->Lochranza Ferry to Arran. Hamish (awesome chap and photographer) fit us into the perfect tee time at Shiskine Golf & Tennis Club ⛳ which is the perfect blend of beauty, quirk, challenge & delight. Dad loved the 12 hole layout & made a bunch of 3’s.
I found a honey hole in the woods Carolina Golf Club where the prov1s reproduce like rabbits. Assembled this lot in about 8 minutes.
