Day 3. Kintyre with Pop. Awoke 5am to catch the early Islay Ferry. Breakfast & golf at The Machrie. Staff, golf, weather & food were all an A+. After the round we took a hike to the Oa Nature Preserve near Lower Killeyan. Cliffs and views were spectacular. Late ferry home.

Day 4. Kintyre with Pop. Played the lovely David McLay-Kidd course Machrihanish Dunes. The green contours are whimsical and FUN. Terrain is ideal for links golf. Made 4 birdies with hickories in the sunshine in Scotland with my dad. Does it get better than that?

Day 5. Kintyre with Pop. We road tripped up to Oban for the day. We had a great tour of the distillery, a walk around the harbor and town and then headed to Glencruitten for some REALLY HILLY golf. Loved the town of Oban. The drive up and back was spectacular!

Day 6. Kintyre with Pop. We visited the beautiful Ceardach Gardens in the morning. I highly recommend going in May when the azaleas & rhododendrons are blooming. The Machrihanish Golf Club in the afternoon in perfect conditions. I scored 19 stroke better than Sunday. Birding in the gloaming.

Day 7. Kintyre with Pop. We took the Claonaig->Lochranza Ferry to Arran. Hamish (awesome chap and photographer) fit us into the perfect tee time at Shiskine Golf & Tennis Club ⛳ which is the perfect blend of beauty, quirk, challenge & delight. Dad loved the 12 hole layout & made a bunch of 3’s.

Day 7 (cont.). Kintyre with Pop. After golf we went to the Machrie Moor to see the standing stones & cairns. It is a stunning setting and nice walk. I highly recommend if you are in the area. We dined & stayed at Lagghotel which is a charming hotel on the south end of Arran.

This is one of my favorite golf stories I have ever read. I hope my daughter grows up to have half as much grit, tenacity, humility and joyfulness as these two.

I was at the Fields on Saturday for the debut of this film & highly recommend that you give it a watch. The Fields is a rare place. The course is great value but what makes it amazing are the people like Ashley & Mike Young who have poured their heart & soul into each 4.25” cup.

Bridal Veil Falls. Cedar Mountain, NC. Most of the time we visit this spot the water is too cold to get in. Today it was awesomely refreshing. Ru went for the full head dunk. I snapped a pic at just the right time.

Well… this happened today. Hole in one on the 5th hole at Pinehurst #5. I’m a very lucky dude. Less than 45 total lifetime rounds with hickories and two hole in ones. This one was 157 yards with a Mashie. So grateful my Pop was there with me to see it.
