Do #mindfulness apps work (aka shift processes supposed to change after mindfulness practice)? Our review suggests they often do, but more res needed. Grateful to my team led by John Torous, MD MBI & to amazing Teachers College, Columbia University & Regina Miranda, Ph.D. (Miranda Lab) RAs! nature.com/articles/s4418… #mhealth

A big shoutout to our incredible team, Simon Goldberg, PhD, Kevin Riordan, Drs. Scott Baldwin, Otto Simonsson, Matthew Hirshberg, Cortland Dahl, Inbal Nahum-Shani, and Richard Davidson, for making this study possible!

New study led by Qiang Xie found informal compassion practice may reduce distress and loneliness for distressed undergrads. Effects emerged in pre-post and daily diary measures. Bringing meditation practice into daily life may really make a difference. authors.elsevier.com/a/1ivXh1KMdhCU0

Incredibly grateful to Center for Healthy Minds, Healthy Minds Innovations, Simon Goldberg, PhD, Richie Davidson, and John Curtin for their support on the project so far. Honored to receive the Varela Grant from Mind & Life to further our research on meditation app use. Excited to started!

Had a great time chatting mindfulness, psychotherapy, and science with Daniel Cox on his Psychotherapy and Applied Psychology Podcast! Somehow he's able to make zoom feel like a cozy couch on a screened in porch.

Honored to lead this work and pleased to see it published with The Lancet Digital Health. We reviewed 34 meta-analyses (235 RCTs) of digital phone interventions for patients with chronic diseases. Research gaps, both on meta-analytic and RCT levels, are summarized.

🧠📊 Survey of 700+ mental health researchers: ~70% use LLMs (mostly ChatGPT), mainly for proofreading & coding. Top concerns? Accuracy, ethics & bias. Most want clearer guidelines & disclosure norms. #MentalHealthResearch #AI #LLMs #ChatGPT Simon Goldberg, PhD John Torous, MD MBI To
