Great morning working with Glenrothes and Methil crews speaking to the public about Water Safety. Please understand the importance of letting the professionals carry out rescues from water and know where you are so you can tell 999 operators where to find you in an emergency!

You can help prevent rubbish fires:
Store your rubbish in a secure area
Don’t fly-tip or leave rubbish to build up outdoors
Report rubbish build-up to your Local Authority or fire station
Report fly-tipping to your Local Authority

Keep your close / common stair clear:
• Get rubbish, old furniture, etc. out of the building.
• Make sure storage areas are kept locked.
• For advice on uplifting items contact your local Council.

Even a small bag of rubbish can create enough smoke to fill a whole close / common stair. Items left in a common stair / close are often deliberately set on fire. Keep it clear.

Parents & carers– are you concerned children/young people could be involved in setting fires? Talk to them about the dangers of playing with fire.
