Happy birthday Jenny Holzer!🎈For decades, Holzer has written her own clichés to spark conversation about social justice issues such as misogyny, corruption, and war. 📍Visit Holzer’s work on #SFMOMA Floor 5 in "Afterimages"!

Do you recognize the names in “Souvenir III” (1998)? Probably not, but this is intentional. Utilizing scale and mixed media, Kerry James Marshall highlights the unsung heroes of the civil rights movement with power and sophistication. 📍See the work on Floor 5!

What does this painting say? Well, nothing! Here’s why: Cy Twombly’s work is, by design, illegible. Inspired by graffiti, he critiqued dominant abstracts of the 1950s with unreadable graffiti-like paintings filled with texture and drips. 📍Come read the unreadable on Floor 4!

How many eggs can you find? 🥚 In Leonora Carrington's “The Kitchen Garden on the Eyot” (1946) the egg is a symbol of fertility and creation. The eggs hidden throughout and the egg tempura technique used to bind her pigments tie back to the symbol. 📍Tally the eggs on Floor 2!

🎶 ✨Music is in the air as #OutsideLands hits Golden Gate Park this weekend! Dave Muller’s 2007 "cassettestack (A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You)" reminds us how music shapes us as it lives in memory and everyday objects. #GoldenGatePark #SF
