Our Roukos lab discovered that cells use type II topoisomerases to regulate the 3D folding of DNA. This is important for controlling gene expression & may also be important for preventing DNA from becoming overtwisted & breaking. Findings published in Molecular Cell @cellpress.

We're starting off our 2025 with a New Year's Colloquium at IMB Mainz with a talk by Prof. Mita Banerjee on "The Beauty of Old Cells? Narrating Age between Culture and Biology"! The event is jointly organised by DFG funded networks 4R-RTG GenEvo SFB 1551 - Sonderforschungsbereich 1551 SFB 1552 SFB 1361 - DNA Repair and Genome Stability.
