'There is nothing like a war in the south to convince young Israelis to stop protesting and go out and defend the homeland. It had worked before, and it worked this time as well.' Ilan Pappe, 2017.

It works every time.

The ICC Prosecutor's applications for the warrants in the Situation in Palestine were first scheduled for this week but have been delayed, Le Monde reports based on a 'good source'.

This will foster speculations but is too little info to aver anything.

Thinking of everyone getting ready to celebrate (real) Easter in Palestine (and in Ukraine for that matter) under conditions of violence and fear and hoping that this is the last time they have to endure this

This tweet was reposted by a big account leading to outpouring of hate smearing Khalidi's credentials.

His unputdownable 'The Hundred Years' War on Palestine' on the period up to 2017 is a good place to start learning abt the conflict, in tandem with historian Ilan Pappe's work.

Re inflammatory literature:

This must be NYPD's gentle plug for Oxford Academic 'very short introduction' series: global.oup.com/academic/conte….

NB A very short introduction can only lead to a very short arrest, absent any other aparent risk factors.

The Court wasn't Kangaroo at all, though, when it issued arrest warrants against Putin, his children's rights commissioner Lvova-Belova, or top Russian generals Sokolov & Kobylash.

The ICC not respecting the sovereignty of nations is fine then, as long as it's not about Israel.

A leading historian Professor Rashid Khalidi of Columbia U delivers a passionate critique of Columbia University management for succumbing to external pressure and calling the police to suppress student and staff anti-genocide protests on the campus.

A must-listen.

A timely reminder by the Office of the Prosecutor: any threats to retaliate against the Court should it take decisions on investigations or cases, may constitute offences against the administration of justice.

Officials of state parties and non-parties alike should take note.

Netanyahu has lost sleep over the ICC arrest warrants for himself and members of his cabinet—rightly so.

Once again, the Court is casting a long shadow, like it did over the Trump administration in relation to the Afghanistan investigation (recall Bolton and Pompeo’s tirades).

Except the ICC was lawful, accountable, and very much alive when it ventured to go after Putin.

But that was the exception which rather confirms the rule, and it is the Sovereign who decides on the exception.

'Biden told Netanyahu during the call that a report...that suggested the US might have given a 'green light' to the ICC to issue arrest warrants against Israeli leaders was not true.'

Would have been great, except it's not up to Biden to green light this. axios.com/2024/05/01/us-…

'You have to hear this to believe this.'

The Israeli government blackmailed US administration that if the ICC issues arrest warrants against & co, Israel would retaliate against the Palestinian Authority, possibly leading to its collapse...

(and strengthening Hamas).

I am so pleased to see this new paper just published by my colleague Natasa Mavronicola. It is an absolutely fantastic paper; challenging, clear, persuasive, and impeccably executed. Required reading for human rights lawyers everywhere IMO academic.oup.com/ojls/advance-a…

Horrific. There is no military application or reason for cluster munitions being used on a civilian waterfront area as they were in Odesa yesterday, killing 5 people and wounding 30 others. Time and time again, Russia has carried out similar attacks on densely populated areas of…

How quickly this brutality has become the new normal on the US campuses. Sign of things to come in other places?

Solidarity with our colleagues and students in the US. ✊🏽
