On the way back along the coastal road in Kvarner, the must-stop area is Senj, Croatia. I time-lapsed this rotor cloud under the Lee wave along the coast, a typical event in the area, for over an hour. The Kelvin-Helmholtz waves appearing along the rotor were even more amazing.

Multiple post-frontal thunderstorms emerged across northeast Italy in the late afternoon of July 11th, 2025. The air mass was perfect for dramatic stormscapes, like this storm with anti-crepuscular rays and a rainbow near Sindacale.

A new La Niña event has now formed, with the NOAA advisory calling for Winter 2025/2026 impacts across the Northern Hemisphere. But a strong reversal into an El Niño event is currently forecast for 2026, bringing a very different wave of global weather impacts.

An intense supercell storm with a wall cloud rolling across Cerkniško jezero, Slovenia, on July 4th, 20225. Notice a fierce core of another storm to its right, downpouring torrential rain over Cerknica.
