It is with profound sadness that the Wigan Amateur League share the news that League Stalwart, Vice President, former League Secretary and Referee Mr David Orrell MBE has sadly passed away. Our sincere condolences go to his wife Judith and all the family. Devastated RIP Pal.

At the end of the meeting a motion was proposed for the renaming of the League in honour of long standing former Secretary and icon of football in the Wigan area Dave Orrell. I am delighted to say that the FA have ratified our request as you can see from change in League title.
