Tonight, on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, our building shines in the colours of the Ukrainian flag. Honouring the unbreakable spirit and bravery of our Ukrainian friends. Ukraine will prevail in this war and take its place in our European family. Slava Ukraini!

The tragedy of Russia's attacks against hospitals, schools and homes in Ukraine is unspeakable and continues to claim innocent lives. Yaryna Bazylevych was among the victims of the attack in Lviv. A talented young woman, working for @LvivEYC2025 to bring the EU closer to youth.

Ukraine is concerned by reports that the IMF intends to resume cooperation with Russia and send a mission to Moscow. It would be absurd for the main financial institution of the United Nations to legitimize the Russian regime that commits horrific atrocities in Ukraine.

Russia is relentlessly targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Temperatures will soon go down, so we are stepping up our humanitarian aid to Ukrainians in need. With a new €40 million package for repair works, electricity, heating and shelter.

Today, we open a pivotal bilateral screening meeting on Chapter 23 “Judiciary and Fundamental Rights” as part of 🇺🇦🇪🇺 accession. Russia's bombs on Ukraine's energy infrastructure aim to immerse 🇺🇦 in the dark. Our solidarity is stepping up to keep bringing light by repairing & stabilising the flow of energy in Ukraine. This includes around €100 million from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets in 🇪🇺.

Relentless Russian attacks mean Ukraine needs continued EU support. The European Commission will provide a loan of up to 35 billion euros to Ukraine as part of the G7 pledge. This is another major EU contribution to the Ukraine’s recovery.
