anyway. stuff like this reminds me how marginalized writers/readers really have to be our own community. my debut is finding its audience on the backs of early excitement from (largely queer/bipoc) readers. as a non big 5 author, i’m very thankful.

I have nothing against cozy books but I’m seeing a pattern with how BIPOC authors are having to write cozy, more “palatable” books to be published & I wonder why there’s a resistance to BIPOC rage/violence in books when in fact white authors have been writing dark books forever.
