Dr Carrie Grant MBE (hc) 💙 Just don’t understand their attitude at Norfolk County Council who don’t seem to understand the legal threshold to obtaining an EHCP MUST have been met. It’s not up to them to simply decline EHCPs as they don’t want to issue them!! Time for LAs to be held accountable for this attitude

It would take more than 8years for the NHS to see 195,000 adult patients waiting for ADHD assessments in many parts of UK. Years of systemic & cultural discrimination in the NHS need to be addressed bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… BBC Health News Wes Streeting MP Angela Rayner Jo Platt

It would be great if you could share this to counter the uncritical way the mainstream press is reporting this research that’s actually an “existential threat” to disabled children’s education…

💯 % not happy for legal rights to be reduced in anyway. In fact there needs to be accountability so the current law is upheld and within legal timescales!! @SENDNationalScandal

NEW POST: Speech and Language UK CEO Jane Harris says the recent report calling for the #SENDTribunal to be scrapped would cover up injustice and no parent of a disabled child will ever support it… She's not wrong... specialneedsjungle.com/scrapping-send…

On SNJ Today: Why would any SEND parent support scrapping the only legal backstop for their disabled child's support asks Speech and Language UK CEO Jane Harris . She says the move would only cause suffering and cover up injustice specialneedsjungle.com/scrapping-send…

I remain concerned that aspects of Bexley’s Safety Valve agreement conflicts with OFSTED’s SEND inspection findings & hear these concerns from fellow SEN parents. I recently joined other MPs to meet Bridget Phillipson & Catherine McKinnell to raise these issues & will continue to do so

If we had not created a ‘disabling’ education system in the first place & reduced measures of intelligence& ‘ability’ to exam results & instead had a n inclusive child centred,& pedagogy relevant to a 21st century economy & culture this would never have happened The Daily Telegraph

The Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health has refused to withdraw its “discriminatory” 2021 guidance on fabricated or induced illness (FII) by carers despite a campaign from disability charities calling for its immediate withdrawal. #ParentBlame - learningdisabilitytoday.co.uk/news/rcpch-ref…

We've noticed a number of LAs (incorrectly) telling parents of children/YP with EHC plans that they only have to provide 16 hours' special educational provision per week for those over compulsory school age. This is incorrect. Read our FAQ for the facts: bit.ly/3M953f5

The Neurodiversity Charity ADHD Foundation Dr Carrie Grant MBE (hc) 💙 Sadly not a shock, in 2023 Special Needs Jungle quoted LAs roughly spent £99million on tribunals and only won 1.7% of cases!! It’s a travesty of wasted money that could support SEND children and there’s NO accountability!! #SENDNationalScandal specialneedsjungle.com/send-tribunal-…

From today the Department for Education ‘Working together to improve school attendance’ guidance becomes statutory in England. We have identified some key advice. We urge schools & local authorities to comply with the expectation that they use Support, Not Sanctions to improve attendance

Haven't had a day off for 2 years, holidays don't happen, not if you are a full time carer & single parent. 2 weeks til we are back into an eotas schedule for 2, all the usual LA stuff to sort and honestly I am exhausted. This ain't the land of milk and honey.

Last year I was sitting in a local library whilst my son sat a GCSE maths exam. The librarian, who was in her late 30s or early 40s, asked why I was there. When I told her, she said ‘I am so glad I wasn’t born nowadays. I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing today.’ She told me

Thank you Measurewhatmatters.blog for highlighting that typically LAs are delusional and constantly blaming and gaslighting parents #SENDNationalScandal measurewhatmatters.blog/2024/08/30/myt…
