As we continue to celebrate Digital Health Week, it is crucial to acknowledge the alarming prevalence of technology-assisted gender-based violence in Sub-Saharan Africa. We must implement robust legal frameworks and promote digital responsibility to combat this pressing issue.

In East Africa, the effects of conflict on gender-based violence are devastating. To address these challenges, it is imperative that international donors and global stakeholders significantly increase funding for organizations that assist survivors of sexual violence #GBV

On this World AIDS Day, we celebrate the progress in the effort to end AIDS by 2030! While we have made significant progress, there is still much work to be done to achieve the 2030 target of ending AIDS and realizing the ‘95-95-95’ goals. #WorldAidsDay

The digital age has ushered in unprecedented progress and opportunities. However, it has created a fertile ground for technology-facilitated GBV. We must take action! We need to advocate for comprehensive policies that protect women and girls from digital violence. #EndViolence

In Sub-Saharan africa Restrictive policies continue to limit access toSRH services. At SENA we believe advocacy for an enabling policy environment is not just about reforms it’s about ensuring these policies are implemented, monitored, and truly serve those who need them most.

Cervical cancer remains a significant global issue, with Africa bearing the greatest burden. Out of the top 20 nations most affected by cervical cancer, 19 are in sub-Saharan Africa. Expanded access to cancer screening, treatment and HPV vaccination should be made a priority.

The funding landscape for SRHR in Africa has evolved significantly over the past decade and there is an urgent need to diversify funding sources beyond reliance on Western donors. Fostering collaboration and advocating for diversified funding mechanisms should be prioritized.

Recent changes in donor funding particularly from the USA will significantly impact developing countries' access to essential reproductive health commodities. The abrupt freeze in funding is both dangerous and poorly timed. It time for Africa to implement the Abuja Declaration !

The impact of the donor funding freezes is being felt acutely across Africa. Civil society organizations have a critical role to stand in solidarity with African Ministries of Health and ensure that women continue to access SRH services they need.

Did you know? 1 in 10 women globally suffer from endometriosis. African women wait 7–12 years for a diagnosis due to silence around topic of periods, limited healthcare access and Lack of specialized training among healthcare workers in managing endometriosis.

Happy International Women’s Day! This is a moment to applaud the progress in Gender equality and a reminder of how far we must go. Amid funding cuts to SRHR services and rights rollbacks we must keep pushing forward to promote and advocate for Gender equality. #WomensDay

Gender-based violence is a crisis that shatters lives, health, and futures. GBV Survivors face physical trauma, mental health struggles, and lack of access to SRHR care. Trauma-informed healthcare, safe spaces, and legal advocacy should be readily available for survivors.
