hey designers, what's your preferred way to center-align a search icon: based on the circle or its overall weight? i usually lean optical over mathematical, but in this case, it's not so obvious

still wild to me that this even needs saying in 2025, but: 1) yes, you do need to tweak each button based on the icon 2) don’t work with devs who ‘won’t bother’ 3) yes, users do notice, and do care

i’ve never been a big fan of 3D interfaces, but i must admit: the !Camera app from !Boring is software design at its absolute best. Andy Allen congrats on the release! notbor.ing/camera

huh, interesting. on the Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast podcast Josh Miller claims that they've 'trained an on-device ML model' in Dia, but it looks like they're just parsing question words like what, why, how, etc. this kind of bs is why people don't trust tech bros (and i wouldn't too)

to be clear: as a user, i don't care if it's ML or parsing as long as it works. what i care about is for AI companies to be honest and transparent about how they operate from a technical standpoint, as this industry currently demands trust and a leap of faith from early adopters.

six months since we launched Joi Planner. if i could go back and give myself one piece of advice, it’d be this: everything you read about tiktok growth on this platform is bs, don't waste your time.

today we're (finally) opening up alpha testing for joi planner on mac. sign up to get a testflight link. we'll be rolling out invites in batches over the next couple of weeks (i know you hate waiting, but it takes a bit longer to make things right) → joi.software/mac
