All of the gory elements are terrific, with the moments that turn it up to 11 cutting to the bone, though it’s hard to shake how little it leaves a mark elsewhere. TOGETHER may tear apart the body in glorious fashion, but its ideas never cut to the soul.  thewrap.com/together-dave-…

Wrote about Amy Heckerling’s CLUELESS, now celebrating its 30th anniversary, & why it remains the best adaptation of Jane Austen’s EMMA as well as just an all-time great comedy. Tacoma folks, go see it at The Grand Cinema Wednesday and craft the night away inlander.com/screen/amy-hec…

Somehow missed that this hit VOD, but wanted to recommend folks see ELSE now that it's more widely available. Yes, TOGETHER is coming soon, but to me, this is the body horror movie of the summer. Watched it again last night and the transition to black & white was pure perfection

Alison Brie and Dave Franco are stuck together, quite literally, in the body horror/relationship satire 'Together'. This effective two-hander features strong performances, making it not just the best horror movie of 2025 but one of its finest films. silverscreenriot.com/together/

Will have more on the superhero power couple movie later this week, but #ICYMI in theaters, would recommend seeing Danielle Deadwyler & Michael Greyeyes in 40 ACRES now that it is on VOD. In particular, Deadwyler brings all the needed gravitas to help fight back the film’s flaws.

A madcap comedy about commitment in the f*ck boy age of app-based relationships, 'Oh Hi!' features a pair of comedic performances from Logan Lerman and Molly Gordon. I had a lot of fun with this one during it's Sundance run. silverscreenriot.com/sundance-25-oh…

Reminder: you can see CLUELESS today at The Grand Cinema and craft while watching it. Then, you should give my piece a read. Come for the fun headline, stay for me making the case for why the ending I was initially more mixed on is actually the perfect way it could've concluded.

The First Family have struck out in every onscreen appearance and 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' is no exception. Boring, weirdly low-energy, and poorly paced, Marvel's latest outing has them struggling to connect again. silverscreenriot.com/the-fantastic-…

All-timer of a film incoming. Saying it now: there are few works as quietly breathtaking as Clint Bentley’s TRAIN DREAMS and infinitely fewer that capture the boundless beauty of Washington state as this does. It's here and it is beautiful My rave review: thewrap.com/train-dreams-r…

In #TheFantasticFour: First Steps, Marvel attempts to reboot (yet again), a franchise that seems destined to fail. Which it does (yet again), despite an appealing cast. moviepie.com/the-fantastic-…

My work as a film critic exposes me to a lot of great movies that fly under the radar. Since we're halfway through the 2020s (!!!!), thought I'd take some time to revisit my favorite movies that most moviegoers probably didn't see. Or maybe never heard of! silverscreenriot.com/25-best-movies…

I caught up with the new I Know What You Did Last Summer & damn, this one is surprisingly entertaining. It won't win any awards, and some more memorable kills would have helped, but I had a lot of fun watching this one. Chase Sui Wonders is great, too. filmjabber.com/movie-reviews/…

THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS: Pedro Pascal & Vanessa Kirby are both excellent in a film that's one of the better Marvel entries of late yet still stretches its best elements quite thin. With that in mind, it finds new life where it counts. My review: inlander.com/screen/the-fan…

📽️FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS is no giant leap for Marvelkind - Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby lead MCU's pleasant if plodding retro-futuristic take on a superhero family facing an impending real estate crisis. thesunbreak.com/2025/07/24/fan…

#FantasticFourFirstSteps is everything I wanted. A cosmic space adventure that understands the characters. The cast feels like a family and Galactus is terrifying. The visuals are unique. I want the reboot of the MCU to be set in this world Seattle Film Critics Society youtu.be/XvmPwsH_3cc

Still the best movie to see this week, SORRY, BABY continues showing at SIFF and opens today at The Grand Cinema. Do yourself a favor and go see it then read my silly little traditional review below. Or, if you still need some convincing, read the review first then go see it ASAP
