Harold Mims was born in Sep 1896 and lived in Sutton Surrey. He enlisted in the 5th London Regt and went to France in Jan 1915 aged 18. Commissioned into the Dorset Regt Oct 1916 he was killed in action on 27th Sep 1918. Photo by David Knights-Whittome.

On the headstone of Rifleman
Herbert Phipps 'A' Coy. London Regt Q.W.R. in Louverval Military Cemetery is the inscription:

'Is It Well With The Lad? It Is Well.'

This poignant message was left by his parents Wallace & Emma R. Phipps, of 35, Castleton Rd., Goodmayes, Essex.

This certificate from London Ontario dated 1948 gives the Canadian Fusiliers, City of London Regt, permission to march through the city 'with bayonets fixed, drums beating and colours flying'. The regiment originated in 1866 and is closely affiliated with the Royal Fusiliers.

This was donated to us by the family of Pte Fred Cearns, London Regt, who died in Ypres in 1917. Fred's brother Percy wrote the moving memoir at the time but it lay forgotten on the family bookshelves for many years until descendants Martin and Edward published it.
