The Church of Our Lady in Brugge is home to Michelangelo's statue of Madonna with Child. During the statue was taken by Germans as Hitler wanted it for his museum in Linz. After the war, the statue was recovered from the Altausse Salt Mines by the Monuments Men & returned.

Between 1656 & 1659 during the restoration of the monarchy, this house in Brugge was the Palace of King Charles II of England, Scotland & Ireland. It was here that he raised the First Guards (1656), Grenadier Guards & Life Guards (1658) to defend the low countries against France.
