Caroline Dinenage was the first minister to embrace Olivers training for Health & Social Care Non of this would have happened without Caroline's involvement

UntypicallyNeural @Liz_Boughton Paula McGowan OBE. Jo Frost πŸ’« Oh the joys of parenting courses to improve our skills ! Maybe some of these schools that don't care should go on the same courses.

Paula McGowan OBE. UntypicallyNeural @Liz_Boughton Jo Frost πŸ’« They are just tick boxes to fob us off. We went on a three weekly course (hour per week) to learn about toileting for a boy who manifested his anxieties this way. Taught us about different types of poo and very little else but had to go to tick that box. :(

@Liz_Boughton Paula McGowan OBE. Jo Frost πŸ’« Yeah she's giving ammo to those SENs, schools and LAs who already ignore parents having to deal with this, and often subsequently end up being labelled as bad parents

Paula McGowan OBE. UntypicallyNeural @Liz_Boughton Jo Frost πŸ’« Totally. He was diagnosed ADHD after months of pointless courses like this. 2nd son masked his ADHD - school refused to accept his home meltdowns were anything to do with them. He was diagnosed ADHD when our amazing 2ndry school SENDco saw what we had been saying for 6yrs. :(

Paula McGowan OBE. Georgie B @Liz_Boughton Jo Frost πŸ’« Not long after our son was diagnosed we were giving the opportunity to go on/to these support sessions or courses and we were grateful at first for any help but we gradually realised they were parenting courses, like the issues were due to our being bad parents

@Liz_Boughton It's important to look after yourself - getting your child's voice heard and their needs met in the school environment is challenging and tiring. If you would like any support, please get in touch with our Parents' Helpline youngminds.org.uk/parent/parents… We're here to help and listen.
