Charpen I don’t know but that’s why they should create a different award for expansions. First because the GOTY has been literally rigged to give Elden Ring another one and second because DLCs deserve their own category to credit dev teams for their efforts.

Here's a food metaphor if you still struggle to undestand: DLCs are the "extra toppings" for the pizza. The extra toppings are not the main dish of the meal.

Shadows of the Erdtree has a higher standard than most full games have on release. That said the categories need to be changed to account for dlcs that go above and beyond; Veilguard may not be goty worthy but neither is most of what was nominated lmao

Pyo 5️⃣ I feel like DLCs normally shouldn’t, but Shadow of the erdtree is an exception. I don’t know what the metrics of it being able to be nominated are. Maybe just have best DLC as an award.

It's not fair to the great DLCs that came out in previous years. It's not fair to the great new games like Silent Hill 2, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Age, Animal Well etc. DLC should be their own category. The rules were bent this year to include Elden Ring in the nominations.

god's drunkest gooner Tyler Greg Miller You’re completely ignoring my point. Idgaf if a DLC is better than majority of the brand new games that release this year, there’s no reason a DLC should be in the Game of the Year Category. DLCs should not be eligible for that category. Period.

Greg Miller It's a content that expands another game, not a game itself. It could be another category for DLCs/Expansions. As there isn't any category for this, maybe (not really) it could be nominated as "On going game".

Hac1 RJ Geoff Keighley Are you joking? SH2 remake was INCREDIBLE, Elden Ring already won. We all know Erdtree will win, it seems they only posted the statement of DLCs being eligible exactly cause of SOTE

DansGaming I would replace the Elden Ring DLC with Another Crabs Treasure and FF7 Rebirth with Stellar Blade. Remakes and DLCs should be their own category and not be eligible for GOTY
