Storm Floris could bring record-breaking August wind gusts to northern Scotland on Monday. Gusts over 80mph possible in exposed spots — risk 90mph Western Isles. Extraordinary for the time of year. With trees in full leaf, damage risk is higher. Stay safe out there.

What a crazy day in Rosehearty & Fraserburgh with Storm Floris. So much debris on the streets, roads closed by fallen trees and a lot of shops closed. Strange to think it’ll be sunny and warm on Wednesday! #CrazyWeather #StormFloris

Hot weather returns to England and Wales next week with low 30s likely. For us there will be a little warm up, but looks like the main heat will stay south of us this time.

Growing agreement in the weather models that a swathe of extreme winds could hit Tiree, Coll, Mull, Oban, Ardnamurchan, Colonsay, Mallaig, the Small Isles and Skye on Friday evening. Gusts could be around 100mph across islands. Will monitor this closely in coming hours. #StormAmy

Storm Amy has brought gusts up to 80mph in part of Ireland & Wales so far, but for us it’ll be much stronger this evening. Inner Hebrides, Barra and South Uist can expect anywhere up to around 100mph from about 6pm for a few hours. Will keep you updated. #StormAmy

Delighted that my hometown, Paisley, has won Scotland’s Town of the Year! There’s such a buzz about the place right now, and I can’t wait to see the transformation of the High Street and Museum in the years ahead. Huge congrats fellow Buddies! 🥳 #ad

Hurricane Melissa, the world’s most powerful storm of the year so far, has just made landfall in Jamaica as a catastrophic category 5 hurricane. Wind gusts could exceed 200mph with a powerful storm surge heading for the south coast in the coming hours. Thoughts with all affected.
