The average IQ on here has just gotten too low. Worse, I'm pretty sure I'm helping drive that number down. Taking a break for a bit in hopes this place and I both improve in quality.

The primary reason to vigorously pursue AI is because the most likely answer to the Fermi Paradox is simple stupidity. Most species just don't get smart enough, fast enough, and either destroy themselves or don't get off-planet before nature destroys them.

We should simply be so hyper-productive and effective that it's just not worth anyone's time to worry about gating ideas via copyright, proprietary models, etc.

Only humanity is dumb enough to not protect itself from the solar flares that constantly bombard the planet. If an AI is smart enough to enslave us, it will probably be smart enough to harden it's infra. ... Upon reflection, I can imagine us being enslaved by a very stupid AI.

Despite the egregious amount of slop and antagonism, there are still fantastic people on here and a lot of you are fucking hilarious. X has been my primary form of entertainment for a while because of you all and I really appreciate [several of] you.

The mistake the techno-optimists made in allying with the right is they thought maga was the heroes in Atlas Shrugged when they are actually the villains (as are the left - horseshoe theory wins again)

What is largely ignored is that much of this area is not in a FEMA flood zone. This happens a lot as the models they depend on appear to be largely out of date or too conservative. Likely, 30 year averages underweight current risk.

Slashing intel jobs while ballooning wannabe-military with a vague mandate right after bombing the middle east is also the premise for a prepper fiction storyline where a false flag attack is used as an excuse implement quasi-martial law and start eliminating political enemies.
