Most people suffer from #ShiftingBaselineSyndrome and don't really notice how nature is disappearing before their eyes. This, combined with our hustle culture, consumerism + ego cultivation, leads to a complete lack of understanding that intact nature is the basis of all life.

Humpback #whales are migrating north in the Southern Hemisphere and this youngster posed for the camera off #Chappies, #CapeTown, a few days ago. Another fluke added to the growing catalog in Happywhale!

There‘s been sustained feeding by a small group of Humpback #whales in western False Bay, #CapeTown, the past 2 weeks. Local supreme spotter, Nanette Smith, captured these 2 whales a couple of minutes ago celebrating the bay‘s „krillinary“ delights!!!

Tragic series of images taken by Dean Muller in #FalseBay, #CapeTown, today of a Humpback #whale thrashing about trying to rid itself of rope in which it is #entangled. Tomorrow the #SAWDN & National Sea Rescue Institute will try to locate & free it from this curse that plagues these creatures!

Distressed & panicked #Humpback whale entangled off Miller’s Point, #CapeTown, this morning. Only posting this tragic footage because the animal was freed by National Sea Rescue Institute #SAWDN shortly afterwards! All credit to local whale hero Nanette Smith for spotting the animal and saving its life!

Seeing how well this works with Humpback whales it’s only logical to develop a similar tool that’ll produce the magic for Southern right whales!🐳

It’s been a wild winter of feeding fun in False Bay, #CapeTown, with 28 #Humpback #whales recorded feeding in the bay on multiple days the past 3 months and a few hundred more just passing through. Here’s this evening’s action happening mere metres next to the road to #CapePoint

With politics seemingly dominating everything the past few months let’s get back to science facts instead of political fiction!

This is what rabies looks like in cape fur seal pups. The past two weeks have seen the first positive rabies cases in pups, with tired pups finding themselves on our beaches. Please keep dogs and children away and report unusual behaviours. Video taken by Animal Ocean

Hey City of Cape Town! You force us to get your crummy prepaid electricity meters that are nothing but trouble! Meters not responding, needing replacement, and then purchasing units via banking apps failing again and again! With the amount of rates I‘m paying I expect a lot better!
