Someone trying to ruin all the hardwork that's gone into cleaning up the River Tawd. I've reported this to the Environment Agency. Possible natural iron deposit, but seems strange coming from a CSO. It's a shame as two kingfishers have just flown past, too. 😔

A busy day for FoTV, WLBC Ranger Service and Groundwork as they joined wildlife filmmakers from Salford University to take video footage of the fish species that can be seen at the bottom of Cobb's Clough Weir. Then a WHPT river invertebrate survey in the afternoon. Fantastic!

Unfortunately, we found a live Signal Crayfish in Tawd Valley Park this afternoon, caught in a puddle after the river flooded its bank after heavy rainfall. ASC are an INNS and can cause serious issues for native wildlife. We have reported this incident to the Environment Agency.

Great minds think alike. On my litter-pick this afternoon I met Cornelius Jones pulling trolleys from the river Tawd and tribs', so we joined forces and pulled out 12 SHOPPING TROLLEYS between us and litter-picked 2 bags of rubbish from Tawd Valley Park and surrounding areas.

Really enjoyed ourselves at the Ribble Rivers Trust RiverBlitz today. Staff were fantastic and venue was beautiful. Well organised, engaging and interesting. We were proud to represent Friends of Tawd Valley. What was the name of the café that did the breakfast? Yummy!!! Thank you. Env Agency NW

The rain didn't stop our intrepid troop of fungi finders this morning as we explored the Tawd Valley Park with the help of the fabulous mushroom expert - Mark Buxton-Kelly. Thank you to Mark and to WLBC Rangers for organising this event.

Two bags of litter collected and a shopping trolley pulled from the banks of the river Tawd in this afternoon's litter-pick around Tawd Valley Park and surrounding areas. I appreciate all the "Thank yous" I received from passers-by.

Excellent morning clearing up Parsons meadow, Wigan. Volunteer effort was tremendous and a lot of hard work went into getting a lot of this rubbish out of the stream bed! Look out for more in the future! Lancashire Wildlife Trust Douglas Catchment @greenheartlands @EnvironmentTime

Team Tawd and WLBC Rangers were out this morning repairing the river path, damaged by recent rains. In another part of the park, Ranger Hannah, FoTV's Mike and the Groundwork Super Sam's walked the Valley to discuss exciting upcoming Tawd projects. Thank you for the hard work.
