Feeding the goat and sheep kids with creep feed. Creep feed helps to transition the young animal’s rumen to eat pasture at a much young age allows them to grow a lot faster. This increases their ability to reach target weights faster and reduces the strain on their mothers.

July calves - some new additions to our database. Calving season is now upon us. All we can do for now is to watch and see if the bulls performed to the expected or were “show bulls”. To God be the glory 🙌. 2023 calving counters have been reset.

Vision 2030 still remains - as of now irrigating and mulching citrus trees. Over 200 trees have been planted. No permanent irrigation setup as yet however, for now irrigation is by a tractor drawn water bowser.

Goats and sheep on winter snacks/supplements. This is required as the veld is now poor, improvising with winter supplements being it nutrient blocks, molasses wheel licks, hay/wheat straws etc all helps to maintain a good body score. What supplements do you give at yours?

Cattle going through a spray race for tick control. Animals are showered with an acaricide rather than immersion. Animals walk through the race with 36 nozzles fitted in the aluminium cabin at particular angles. This method has its own advantages/disadvantages over plunge dipping

Wheat straws, soya beans straws and maize stalks all going into the hammer mill to further break it down. Grinding it helps in the the following: 1.Makes the feed more palatable to animals. 2. Easier to mix with other ingredients such as cake, salt, molasses etc

The beauty of cross breeding. Although it’s a slower process to get to purity however, it’s one way to grow/upgrade your herd into better genetics.
