Hard to age (c. 4300BC-AD1600?), this Indigenous ground stone adze was recently donated to us. An isolated find, it was recovered about 1965 by Ted Molczan and his late cousin, Stephen Piwowar, in the now much-altered Red Hill Creek Valley, Hamilton (see Site Lead: Lead-0057).

Should Bill 66 go forward in this form, archaeological sites will be destroyed - deleted from history - before they are even identified. There will be no Indigenous consultation, engagement or participation in those projects. What of PPS 2014, TRC and our commitments to UNDRIP?

“It abounds with wild fowl and tortoises; from hence it appears more like a river or lake than a marsh, and Mordaunt’s Point in the distance takes a fine shape.” (Elizabeth Simcoe in John Ross Robertson 1911:324). #RBGCanada #HamONT
