Meanwhile in Texas, schools are underfunded because state leaders withheld funding for public schools because the Legislature defeated a plan to divert public dollars to unaccountable private school vouchers.

Prayers for President Trump and VP Vance-I pray they seek unity & govern with compassion I pray for those who are afraid of what is to come if the campaign promises are carried out I pray that people of faith are prepared to stand up for the poor and marginalized when necessary

Rep. Talarico came PREPARED to support public schools with some hard questions of the voucher bill. Public dollars should support local schools accessible to ALL Texas kids--not as a tax giveaway to families who choose to go to other schools.

SB 2 is a billion dollar bill with ramifications for our families, schools, and communities. Texans deserve a chance to vote on the bill before public dollars are diverted to private schools. texasimpact.org/89th-texas-leg…

Thousands of Texans of faith named on a scroll supporting public dollars for public schools. Texans deserve a vote on vouchers. It impacts every family and community. Let Texans Vote! Texas Impact #txlege

It is amazing how much pressure is coming from out of state. But the reality is that Texans support our public schools. Always have...always will. The #txlege should be listening to their communities rather than those exerting pressure from outside of Texas.

This looks to be the referendum amendment on SB 2 from House Dems, this authored by James Talarico. #txlege Only 8 so far on this bill but that may jump significantly.

The frustrating thing about the #txlege is when representatives behind closed doors will admit that a policy is terrible and then cave to money and power in public. Do better. Wake up, Texas! Your Legislature is not honoring your voice or values.

To those who keep saying #SB2 isn't about giving a tax break to millionaires and billionaires, I give you exhibit A: the House to just rejected an amendment that would have prevented wealthy families from taking taxpayer dollars to pay for private schools 60-84.
