At the High Court in Glasgow today, Lord Mulholland sentenced Mark Keel to life imprisonment for the murder of Maxine Clark. The punishment part, the time which must be spent in prison before parole is considered, was set at 22 years. bit.ly/43J87bj

The Lord President asked the Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs to appoint Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald to act as temporary Sheriff Principal of Grampian, Highland and Islands from 21 June 2025. Sheriff Principal Derek Pyle will retire on 20 June. bit.ly/3Hi27xp

The Lord President has appointed Lord Colbeck as Vice-Chair of the Judicial Institute. The previous Vice-Chair Lady Drummond succeeded Lord Beckett as Chair earlier this year. The Judicial Institute provides education and training for Scottish judges. bit.ly/43D1KVH
