SCOT Chair Paul Jenkins and EdwardD had a productive meeting with Michael Matheson MSP , Scot Gov Health and Centre for Sustainable Delivery - the current challenges facing Scottish orthopaedic patients were highlighted and recommendations were made about the recovery of planned care.

We travelled north today to Mzuzu past beautiful countryside and villages. During the journey we mapped out what we’re wanting to achieve whilst we’re here and the questions to ask when we meet the team tomorrow. What changes do YOU think would make the biggest impact? 🤔

Day 1 at Mzuzu Central Hospital with our “new” trusty Land Rover. Lessons learnt: 📊 There is a huge amount of data collected by the team allowing for an accurate epidemiology study 🦴 Staff work tirelessly seeing over 6000 patients per year 💰 Funding and resources are scarce

Day 2 ➡️ theatre: Distal humerus non union Tibial shaft non union DHS for a 5 week old intracapsular NOF - arthroplasty is not an option The team had a long list of improvements from a simple instrument tray checklist 📋, to an US scanner for blocks 💉& a new theatre 💰!
