Spotted at Heath Extension ponds: the Giant Butterbur flower! 🌼 This plant grows up to 1.5 meters tall, one of the largest in the Heath. Its leaves shelter wildlife, and early blooms offer nectar for pollinators. #HampsteadHeath

Some essential maintenance took place on our Whitestone flagstaff last week. The flagstaff by Whitestone Pond stands 440 feet above sea level and is the highest point in Inner London. It marks the site of a beacon set up in 1588 to warn of the approaching Spanish Armada.
