Sunday afternoon protocol

Triple-checked this juvenile Mediterranean Gull at BTO #NunneryLakes earlier, as it was noticeably smaller than the Black-headed Gulls (incl. several juvs). Nothing atypical about it though, so presumably just at the small end of the size range. Patch Year, August & plumage ✅!

I love a pristine Comma!

A great Knot find by Justin Walker at BTO #NunneryLakes yesterday evening (not to be confused with a Great Knot find)! As usual, the local Lapwings were intolerant of anything different.

The results are in: an equal number of RPs (2) and likes (9) on both platforms! However, £40 donated by kind folk who saw this on Bluesky, £0 on X. The sample size is inconclusive, but perhaps indicative of people's willingness to act on what they see on a new, more +ve platform?

How accurate do I find the forecast? Let's just say I wish I'd paid less attention to it and put on a raincoat...
