Some boring art I recently completed 🪵🪲 I call it"tragedy of the trees, beauty of a beetle", a reminder of what devastations to landscapes human-mediated disturbances can cause but also illustrates the beauty in the beetle itself and the unseen aspects of it's life.

The first week of our next expedition to SW Mongolia (Trans-Altai Gobi) has passed! We have reached the unique, one of the last oases in the Gobi Desert, likely as the first Poles and the first entomologists in 30 years! What a unique area and an honor!!

How about this, Anthony Cognato Sarah Smith ? Ips typographus and I. acuminatus. The biggest I've ever seen - 1 larva per trunk. There are really nutritious spruces and pines in Poland! 😏

Are only non-native ambrosia beetles being introduced outside their native range or can we also talk about native-alien populations? doi.org/10.1016/j.aspe… researchgate.net/publication/37… #invasivespecies #beetles #entomology #coleoptera #monitoring #insects
